Reset and Wipe a computer (3rd Method)

This guide will explain how to force Advanced startup. When trying to reset and wipe your computer and earlier steps have failed.

Please start at the 1st method if you haven't tried that yet. 

Reset and wipe a computer (1st Method)

Interrupt the Boot Process

              Force a Hard Reboot:

    • Power on or Restart your PC and as Windows begins to load, hold down the power button to turn it off. (Once the Windows logo and the loading circle appears you hold the power button until it shuts down this will take at least 10 seconds).  Do this process two or three times.

              Automatic Repair:

    • After a few forced shutdowns let it try to start, Windows should enter the Automatic Repair environment. Click "See advanced repair options". AdvancedStartup.jfif

 

 

             Choose Troubleshoot:

    • In the blue Advanced Startup Options menu, select "Troubleshoot".

              Reset This PC:

    • Select "Reset this PC".

  • Choose "Remove everything".

  • Depending on your internet speed you might choose local reinstall. It will install updates later.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.
